Abstract
Since the enactment of the Mental Health Welfare Act, housing support services have become a key component in promoting the community integration of individuals with psychiatric disorders. This study aims to systematically review the effectiveness of independent housing support services in supporting the community integration of individuals with psychiatric disorders through relevant research literature. For this study, research conducted on the effectiveness of independent housing support services for individuals with psychiatric disorders during the period from 2007 to 2022 was systematically selected and reviewed, resulting in the examination and evaluation of 35 studies. The analysis revealed that recent well-designed national-scale effectiveness studies consistently demonstrated the positive effects of independent housing support services on housing stability compared to existing services. However, the effects in areas such as quality of life, health, and community functioning yielded inconsistent results. Furthermore, variations were observed in the target population and content of housing support services across different countries. Based on these findings, implications for the establishment of independent housing support services for individuals with psychiatric disorders in the domestic context were proposed.
